Toledo SeaGate Food Bank needs volunteers to help with their Senior Food Box program. People in our area who are 60 years or older and have an income of $375 ($500 for a couple) a week or less are eligible to receive food assistance with this program at no charge. Eligible seniors receive a box monthly of food containing a combination of juice, canned fruit, canned vegetables, unsweetened cereal, pasta, powdered milk, cheese, canned meat, beans, peanut butter, etc.

We’re looking for a team of 12 - 15 people from St. John XXIII to work together on a manual assembly line to pack the boxes. Volunteers do have to stand for 2 hours in a warehouse (cold in the winter and hot in the summer) and put your assigned food item in the box as it passes you on the assembly line. In a two-hour shift, the team will fill about 250 of the 5,000 boxes needed each month.
